This photo, taken
from across Liberty Street (by Vesey Street), shows the north eastern
edge of the WTC site. The green tarp surrounds what will likely be the
rebuilt WTC #7. Across the street (by the orange netting) is where the
previous one stood.

From just east of
the northeast corner of the WTC site, that tall building in the black
netting is the Deutschbank building that has recently (June 2002) been
in the news both for problems with growing mold and the possibility
that some remains may be in there.
The building is
pretty much on the southeast, just outside of the WTC site. Plane parts
left huge gashes on the north side of the building, hence the black
netting and the current contamination problems.

Looking directly
at some buildings on Liberty Street, south of the WTC site. Mostly business,
but more than a few residences in there.

The nearest (to
the WTC site) functioning subway station, just across Church Street.

The famous Century
21 department store, which is just across Church Street, to the east
of the World Trade Center. The store sustained heavy damage on 9/11/01
and didn't reopen until almost six months after the attacks. They
kept as many of their employees working (in their other stores) as
possible, and when they were ready to reopen, they called all the
employees who had to be let go and offered them their jobs again.

Just above the fence
is the famous cross that spontaneously formed when two steel beams fused
together in the carnage. The cross was found that way shortly after
the attacks and placed there for the duration of the rescue and then
the recovery efforts.

Looking southwest
from Church and Cortlandt Streets, just to the east of the World Trade
Center site.

A zoomed-in view
of the same as the photograph on the left.
