These photos
were taken from a block or two east of
what is known as "Ground Zero" from Liberty St. & Broadway,
to John & Nassau Streets. Although
it was pretty crowded on the
perimeter of where we were allowed, the mood was very somber, quiet
and respectful. It seemed like lot of people who lived in the neighborhood,
worked in the area (if not in the World Trade Center) or lost people in the
attacks had come down to bear witness with still cameras and video
recorders. Complete strangers were pointing out to each other the best places
to photograph and film, and sharing space and taking turns in the limited
space allowed by the NYPD.
